PROBLEMS
Palm oil is an important thing in every day life. It is used in 75% of foods
and if you need that much palm oil you need a lot of space and where else
get it but in rainforests. This is a huge problem for rainforests around the world.
Huge areas of space are being cut down and made for palm oil. Certain
types of palm trees produce large red fruit which are rich with oil. Once the oil has been produced (palm oil) it is used for all sorts of things like oils, all sorts of foods, cosmetics like make up and also a fuel for cars. 80% of palm oil is produced in Indonesia which is a huge threat to tigers orangutangs rhinos and many other animals. Palm oil production destroys many rainforests so it also destroys many animals homes aswell.
Palm oil production isnt just bad for the rainforest, its also bad for peatlands. Peatlands are swampy areas where the soils are made of peat.
Peat acts as a sponge, soaking up water and helping prevent floods. It
also stores large amounts of carbon dioxide. When peatlands are drained, the stored carbon reacts with air to release carbon
dioxide into the atmosphere, increasing concentrations of the greenhouse gas. The dry peat then becomes highly flammable, increasing the risk of large-scale fires when plantation developers use fire to clear land and burn agricultural waste.

Solution
My solution for palm oil is not to place the factories in rainforests but to put then in other places where theres a lot of room but no trees like the desert. It may cost more money but if thats what it takes to save the trees than thats what i think the solution shoul
